Bwat

Legal work

Find the authority. Open the source. Read it yourself.

Legal AI is only useful when verification is part of the answer

Bwat combines a searchable Ugandan legal library with the documents you bring to the matter. Use it to locate authorities, compare decisions, review a bundle, and draft from the material, while keeping the source document and relevant passage available for your own judgement.

Bwat assists research and drafting. It does not replace professional review or legal advice.

The legal library can include

  • Ugandan judgments
  • Legislation and gazettes
  • Hansard records
  • Your own pleadings, contracts, evidence, and precedent material

Research the law that was actually ingested

Bwat's legal search works against processed judgments, legislation, gazettes, and Hansard records in its library. It returns citation cards tied to those records. Coverage depends on what has been ingested, so absence from a result is not proof that no authority exists.

  • Search by the legal issue rather than a perfect keyword
  • Filter and browse completed records in the legal library
  • Read scanned PDFs after OCR processing where available
  • Open the underlying record before relying on the proposition

Use the public library and your private file together

  • Find the governing provision
  • Locate decisions applying it
  • Compare those decisions with the facts in your bundle
  • Draft only after the authorities and record are in view

Useful before the final legal judgement

Issue-led authority search

Start from the proposition you need to establish and inspect the judgments or provisions the search returns.

Bundle review

Ask across the supplied record for dates, clauses, contradictions, admissions, and missing documents.

Authority comparison

Set decisions beside one another and separate differences in facts, law, reasoning, and outcome.

Draft from the record

Build a first draft of an opinion, submission, letter, or chronology from sources you can inspect.

Adversarial review

Ask what weakens the argument, which element remains unsupported, and what the other side is likely to challenge.

Matter Projects

Keep a case bundle, research conversations, and invited colleagues together in one Project.

Start with a question you can verify

Add the jurisdiction, procedural posture, date range, and matter files before sending.

Research an issue

Research how Ugandan courts have treated [legal issue]. Separate binding from persuasive material, explain the factual and procedural context of each relevant authority, and give me the source record for every proposition. State any gaps in the available corpus instead of assuming no authority exists.

Review a matter bundle

Review the matter documents I attach. Build a dated chronology, list each material factual claim with the document and passage supporting or contradicting it, identify missing evidence, and then give me the strongest argument for each side. Do not draft a conclusion until the record table is complete.

Interrogate a contract

Analyse this agreement for obligations, conditions, deadlines, termination rights, indemnities, liability limits, dispute provisions, and unusual risk allocation. Quote only the minimum necessary wording, cite the clause for each finding, and list questions that require instructions from the client.

Stress-test a draft

Review this draft as opposing counsel. Identify every unsupported factual assertion, weak authority, missing element, internal contradiction, and remedy that does not follow from the pleaded case. Rank the issues by likely impact and cite the relevant part of my draft and source material.

The professional line does not move

AI can misread a record, miss an authority, or invent a persuasive-sounding proposition. Bwat is designed to shorten research and review by making its sources inspectable, not to make professional verification optional.

Use it as a fast first researcher and drafting assistant. The practitioner remains responsible for coverage, currency, privilege, confidentiality, legal judgement, and every document ultimately filed or sent.

Bring one matter your team already understands

A known record makes it possible to judge the research, source trail, and drafting quality before the workflow reaches live client work.
